If we really just have 10 years before AI comes for us all, we might as well make those years count. The folks at Paris-based Baguette Studio already seem to be at it, having designed a range of wax lampshades that can be melted and recycled endlessly without any environmental cost.
After showcasing at the Alcova exhibition at Milan Design Week, their ‘Le Labo 1.0’ collection, which comes in three variants—a wall lamp, a pendant lamp, and a table lamp—is getting all the eyeballs in Paris. At the ongoing Maison&Objet in Paris, Baguette Studio was one of the three winners in the ‘Future on Stage’ category, a light-bearer in the literal and figurative sense.
Zero-waste and completely natural, their lights are made using a blend of beeswax and plant-based wax and can withstand temperatures of up to 100°C without melting. It’s basically a lamp we can bring home and use in many ways without adding to our eco-guilt and the unending pile of things that we have accumulated that will only end up in the landfill. Did I mention why it’s also perfect for this ADHD generation that gets bored so easily? Whenever you fancy a change, the table lamp can be melted and turned into a sconce or a pendant (and vice versa) without needing new materials.
