The Oscars might be the main event, but the red carpet and the after parties are where stars really have fun with fashion. This year there was one recurring trend that stood out: Indian textiles and jewels. But this wasn’t a happy accident. Swadesh, the homegrown lifestyle brand dedicated to putting Indian craft in the spotlight, is one of the sponsors for some of the coolest after parties in town. Swadesh’s jewellery has already popped up on Law Roach and other notable stars, and they have also partnered with some of the biggest names in Indian design to create a series of looks worthy of this golden-ticket event. Scroll ahead to see what we spotted.

Law Roach in a Swadesh brooch

A Zendaya-less Law Roach arrived at the Oscars wearing a gilded coat jacket that he accessorised with a new pixie haircut, a Chanel bible bag, and a Swadesh brooch. The ruby and diamond pin is inspired by Mumbai’s Art Deco architecture, echoing the language of the iconic Eros building that houses the brand’s flagship store.

Minnie Driver in Swadesh jewellery

The iconic star of films like Good Will Hunting wore a multi-row solitaire neckace by Swadesh for the Vanity Fair Oscars After Party. She paired the white gold and diamond piece with a streamlined crimson gown to let the necklace, that was crafted in Surat, steal the spotlight.

Kyle MacLachlan in Swadesh and Desiree Gruber in Swadesh x Manish Malhotra

Red carpet glamour is where Manish Malhotra thrives. This time, however, the designer dressed a stylish couple—the actor Kyle MacLachlan as well as his wife, producer Desiree Gruber. Gruber wore a column gown covered in zardozi and stone embroidery crafted with sheer Maheshwari silk. Maclachlan accessorised his Manish Malhotra shawl-collar tuxedo with a diamond brooch by Swadesh featuring a cushion-cut tourmaline and a halo of diamonds.

Zanna Robert Rassi in Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla

Red carpet host Zanna Robert Rassi opted for a more colourful look—an ikat-inspired top paired with an embellished brocade skirt also covered in the brand’s sparkling embroideries.

Pritika Swarup in Swadesh jewellery

A piece of jewellery you can zip up! For the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy viewing party, model Pritika Swarup wore a majorly modern piece of jewellery by Swadesh—a Zambian emerald and diamond necklace with a pull tab that includes a detachable extension.

Brandi Carlile and Catherine Shepherd in Swadesh jewellery

A black suit and a hint of shine: a classic combination. At the Oscars red carpet, singer Brandi Carlile and her partner Catherine Shepherd wore fine jewellery by Swadesh. Carlile opted for the Petal Prism brooch with a luminous oval cut emerald to accessorise her black and white classic tuxedo look, while Shephard went for a sleek all-black suit with a chevron-patterned diamond necklace.
