While the internet is going berserk with 2016 throwbacks, at the ongoing Maison&Objet in Paris, a new kind of nostalgia is being served. On its 75th anniversary, Bic Cristal, the transparent ballpoint pen that is perhaps as iconic as the company’s lighters that Charli XCX brought back in 2024, is getting a bright new redux.
Reimagined as a light and available in floor, pendant and wall versions, Seletti’s Bic lamp comes in blue, black and red, to reflect the ballpoint pen’s most common shades. The light is likely to become a favourite of design-inclined WFH crowds, instantly turning drab home offices into spaces that look like it’s always Fun Friday.
This is not the first time Seletti has made serious design look so amusing—in the past, the maximalist design house has launched burger-shaped armchairs, hotdog-like couches, and denture-shaped ashtrays, besides the tongue-in-cheek pieces of furniture, tableware, and furnishings they routinely produce with Toiletpaper Magazine.
