Pants? No thanks. Zendaya’s latest press tour look is all tee no trousers

At a ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ fan event in Paris, the star wore an oversized vintage Marvel tee that Law Roach sourced off eBay

Zendaya and Law Roach are back at it again. For years the collaborators have delivered headline-making looks for each of the actor’s press tours. Remember the Mugler cyborg suit for Dune: Part Two and the series of tennis-core looks for Challengers? With Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it’s no different.

At a fan event in Paris yesterday, Zendaya eschewed designer labels and rocked up in an oversized vintage Marvel tee sans pants. “Style doesn’t always have to cost a fortune,” stylist Law Roach shared in an Instagram story with a screenshot of the $34.99 listing of the old Spider-Man tee he sourced via eBay.

While celebrities often choose custom couture for major appearances, Roach took a slightly different approach and in the process, busted the notion that red-carpet fashion has to be luxury and giving fans a fresh perspective on high-low dressing. He styled the black 2XL graphic tee with a pair of white Miss Z Louboutins (a change from Zendaya’s preferred So Kate heels), diamond danglers from Stéfère Jewelry (a twin of the sapphire-diamond version she wore for the Berlin premiere with a Christian Cowan look), and a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona on her wrist.

Of course, Zendaya hasn’t spent all of the tour in lowkey looks. In Berlin, she wore a custom Louis Vuitton leather vest with a mermaid style skirt, and a vintage jersey-style Coach shirt paired with a plaid midi. For the Rome leg of the tour, Zendaya was spotted in not one but two archival looks by Italian designers: a Giorgio Armani dress featuring spider web-like embroidery from the designer’s spring 1990 collection, and a very Spidey-coded metallic red-and-blue two-piece set from Versace fall 1997.

Fans on the internet can’t stop talking about how only Zendaya could make an oversized tee look this chic. After all, style is not only about what you wear, but how you carry it.
